Little Heroes Basketball Camp

Former BYU All-Star & NBA player Travis Hansen will direct the 2013 camp set for July 18-20 at the XSI Factory. Sessions will be broken up into two age groups.

Grades 1-4 will meet from 9:00-11:00am and Grades 5-10 will meet from 11:00-1:00. Travis will team up with an outstanding group of distinguished volunteer coaches that will help young players understand the fundamentals of basketball, teamwork and leadership.

In addition to teaching basketball skills, players will be given the opportunity to participate in a service project where they will be taught the Little Heroes values of strength, respect, courage, kindness, love, sacrifice, and honor.

Travis Hansen is the co-founder of Little Heroes and Director of our Little Heroes Basketball Camp. 

Who is Travis Hansen?

He developed a passion for basketball at a young age. Prepped at Mountain View HIgh in Orem, Utah, then signed with UVU and later Brigham Young University. Played for three seasons at BYU where he was Defensive Player of the Year, two time All-MWC, two time All-District, 44-1 at home and won two MWC Championships. Travis was then drafted and played in the NBA for the Atlanta Hawks and later played 8 seasons in the Euroleague with Tau, Dynamo, Khimki and Real Madrid. Won two Supercups, 1 Copa Del Rey, 3 time Euroleague Finalist, 3 time All-Russian team, 2 time All-Eurocup team, two time Spanish League Champion and 2011 VTB League Champion.

What makes our camp special?

Children will experience an inspiring, uplifting, fun training at the Little Heroes Basketball Camp. This camp is designed to bring out the best in children: increased awareness of how to help others, increased respect for sportsmanship, enhanced fundamental athletic skills, and a greater understanding of teamwork and responsibility. The Little Heroes Basketball Camp serves as a foundation for learning important values like strength, respect, courage, kindness, love, sacrifice, and honor, just as much as we provide instruction in ball handling and basketball shooting techniques.

What we teach - Learning Basketball Through Repetition

Repetition is the essential to learning and is used by all the best coaches at every level. Repetition at our basketball camp comes in the form of stations where we perform practice drills. Every day, the majority of time is spent focused on learning the fundamentals of basketball through practicing. The drills used at this level are intended to help young players become better at their individual game. These same drills are used successfully with students as young as age 6 and are practiced routinely even at the professional level.

Contests, Individual Awards, Service Projects, Fun and more

The Little Heroes Basketball Camp has evolved into a well-balanced mix of practice drills, games, service projects and friendly fun. While our players will tell you how hard they work, they will also share with you how much fun they had at camp. Each year we seek to improve our camp to help our student campers have the time of their lives, while at the same time continue learning and growing.
